I joined Midway Care Group from Direct Support 4 U (agency) in 2014 after working in several Midway services in various locations. When the opportunity came to work full time under Midway Care Group I accepted because it gave me the opportunity to work with the clients and wonderful staff that I have been working with.
Working with Midway Care Group has given me the confidence and experience that I need to move further in my role as a support worker. Midway Care Group offers equal opportunities and diversity in the workplace.
I am a fairly new staff member to Midway Care Group starting earlier this year. This has been an exciting and new opportunity for me and one I am thoroughly enjoying. Midway Care Group supported me through a vast induction with specialised training that I use daily in work and I continuously receive new and updated training and learning experiences.
Midway care has a passion for supporting people to be as independent in their own lives as possible, something that I feel very strongly about whilst promoting choice and inclusion.
I like living at Glebe House because it is close to my mother’s home and my boyfriend who lives up the road, I usually get a taxi to go see him.
I like living in Leamington because I am from Leamington and I know a lot of people in the area. I sometimes like the food at Glebe House as I am very fussy with what I eat.
I like staff who work with me, especially Neil, Lauren and my key workers. Staff knock on my door before they enter and I like my bedroom.
My mother is welcome to come and visit me at anytime but she usually comes on special occasions. I like to call my mum on the phone; I usually use the landline or my mobile phone.
I like living here because I can watch my TV whenever I want. I feel happy living here.
I usually wake up around 8am when I am working. When I am not at work I usually sleep in. Staff will usually support me with my morning medication. I am very independent with most things I do such as my personal care and breakfast. I enjoy swimming and go at least three times a week, sometimes more. I also have lunch once a week in Leamington, Coventry or Stratford.
Staff support me with my appointments to my GP which is only across the road and easy to get to. I am originally from Welsbourne which is where my family live who I visit occasionally. My mother visits me every Friday which I look forward to. I have five brothers who come to see me at Glebe also, along with my nieces and nephews; we usually go out for a coffee or cuppa.
In the evening I sometimes help with making dinner, setting the table and making drinks. The food at Glebe is home cooked which is nice. I help with washing up and putting the dishes away. In the evening I usually watch TV; I like the XFactor and the soaps. I am supported before dinner with my medication and then usually chill out in the lounge until bedtime. I like to make a hot drink at night and sometimes I have a sandwich or fruit yoghurt.
I like living at Glebe and hope to return when the refurbishment is completed, I should be having my own flat and I’m looking forward to this.
